Little Econ Greenway Trail

Orange County

Even though this trail is urban, there are many peaceful and serene areas that are very beautiful.  These 'city folks' were not as friendly as those I've met on other trails, but many were trying to get their workouts in before heading to work on a Friday morning.  I'll give them a break...

STATS:

Date:  Friday, June 27, 2008

Temp:  74 - 78 degrees F

Distance:  12.3 Miles

Calories Burned:  388

Average Speed:  13.4  Maximum speed:  19.4

Ride Time:  55 minutes and 15.8 seconds, starting at 07:41 -- finish 08:35ish

Cool things I experienced along the way:

I parked at Blanchard Park and headed east.

The trail runs along Blanchard Park and the road that runs through it.

The site of a video shoot I did a few years back.  Brought back some fun memories.

The zero Mile Marker is at the east end of Blanchard Park, but the trail continues east from here...

So peaceful

1.3 miles

Lots of construction here, where I thought it ended.  It wasn't until I got home that I realized it went on out to the University.

I'll have to go back sometime and check it out.

Looks like a house on wheels...  ;-)

So... I headed back up the trail

They have half mile markers too!

There's a bunny in the distance in the middle of this hiking trail.

The dam from the return view

This guy passed me up and was using no hands most of the way!

Hello car!  I'll be back!

You'll be seeing the 'no arms' guy throughout.

I followed him all the way to the trail's end and back!

"Living With Alligators" information sign

It was overcast the entire ride, but cool, which was nice!

That's the Little Econolockhatchee River.

How can they call it Little when the name is so big?

Dean Road underpass

MM 1

There were a lot of folks out exercising and/or walking their dogs.

The trail mostly parallels the Little Econ (that's what folks call it) River, which is a nice contrast to the SunCoast trail paralleling the road.  Much prettier!

A rest stop

A young woman jogger was killed here a couple of weeks ago...

I was keeping a sharp eye out for anyone looking suspicious...

Jet making it's way into Orlando International

MM 2

I like these boardwalk bridges!

Ah... there they are!

Playground.  I'm not sure if there's supposed to be a roof on this structure...

The trail goes straight... a park to the right over this bridge...

Actually... turns out you can go either way!

Rut row.. that tent has seen better days!

At this point, the trail goes over the bridge and comes back in this direction!

Good thing I had 'Look Ma, no hands' dude to follow!

MM 4

Looks like a Target!

Crossing over the bridge.

Trail on the right I just biked, trail on the left is what's ahead.

Lots of birds to see this morning!

Didn't realize I'd get such an up close look at the bent up tent!!

Another bridge and that park I'd passed up ahead!

Wheee!  There's a little tributary that runs alongside the trail.

There he goes crossing Goldenrod Road

MM 4.5

Smaller jet heading toward Sanford

Talk about your safety rails...

There's more safety rails on this trail than found in most foreign countries!

Time to turn around I guess...

Trail end at Forsyth Road

This is only a mile or so south of where the Cady Way Trail crosses over Forsyth Road.  Someday these two trails will be connected.  In the meantime, you could bike up the road to the next trail.

Heading back

Another jet heading to Orlando International

Goldenrod Road.  The only major road to cross.

East Side Club -- I have no idea what that actually is...

A tawt I saw a puddy cat!  It's a Siamese!

Wildlife amidst construction.

Done!

I was testing to see if the bike rack would work on the Mazda!

Works great!

Well... not the prettiest day for a ride, but it was cool, making it a very pleasant experience!

Stay tuned... there's still plenty more to come!
